"You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus; and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well."
John 14:26

Purpose and Mission

The Christian Education Committee (CE) is established by the Session to staff and supervise the congregation's teaching ministries as these relate to people of all ages. The Committee seeks to encourage and provide for the Christian nurture and growth of each member and visitor of The First Presbyterian Church, especially the children and youth for whom the congregation has accepted loving responsibility.

Key Ministries and Initiatives
Adult Retreat

Annually the CE committee provides for an overnight retreat at a local retreat center. This is a time for renewal, rest, and refreshment with other Christian adults. There is always good food, good conversation, and good fun.

Adult Sunday School

A subcommittee of CE plans for the spiritual nurture of our adult parishioners. Guest speakers, topical series, and Bible studies "feed" the mature children among us.

Confirmation Class

Open to those in seventh grade and older, this class prepares youth for membership in the PC(USA). Beginning in September interested youth meet monthly for fellowship and faith reflection.. A year long program offers youth time to explore the history of the Presbyterian faith, provides mission experiences within the congregation, and fosters the development of individual faith stories.

Church Library

The CE sub-committee maintains the church's library. A dedicated core of volunteers keeps the records accurate, purchases new books, and provides book reviews in the newsletter.

Cranbury Presbyterian Nursery School

CPNS is a Christian preschool program for 2 1/2-, 3- and 4-year-old children. We are committed to affirming each child's special gifts and helping each child grow developmentally in an environment bounded by Christian love and caring.

Sunday School

A traditional Sunday school program is available for children ages 2 to adult. Children in grades one through four will participate in the multi-sensory Workshop Rotation Curriculum Model. Classes are designed around a curriculum that is age appropriate and ably led by persons committed to the Christian nurture of the children. We are now adding a series of Celebration Sundays for Grades 1-4 where special programs will be held during the weeks in-between rotation themes. Note the Workshop Rotation Calendar for the details on these events.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer our church is transformed for one week with a religious program welcoming both children from the congregation and children from the community. Our Vacation Bible School program continues to be a successful summer education experience and is a traditional summer hit with both the children and adults who participate.
