Outreach Committee
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20

Purpose and Mission

The Outreach Committee is charged by the Session to reach out in the community with the good news of Jesus Christ, to assist in bringing visitors into church membership and to help visitors to better know and understand the ministry of The First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, NJ.

The Outreach Committee's mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by reaching outside the church and introducing others to Jesus Christ. We invite everyone to accept Christ through repentance and to be renewed by the Holy Spirit through prayer and study of the Scriptures. Our goal is to enable each individual to participate in the Kingdom of God, to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to know God's love through a real and vital relationship, and to win others to Christ by reverent behavior and faithful witness.

Key Ministries and Initiatives
Publicity

Outreach publicizes the ministries of the church and other church activities. The committee coordinates external advertising, including display booths, newspaper articles, newspaper advertisements, etc.

Welcoming Visitors

The Outreach Committee develops programs to attract visitors (e.g. the Bring a Friend to Church program). The Committee encourages members to meet and greet new faces at coffee hour. Each visitor receives a letter of welcome and a telephone call to identify ministries of the church that may help or interest the visitor. "Ask Me" volunteers are coordinated by Outreach.

New Member's Class

The Outreach committee arranges New Member Classes (Inquirer's Classes) with one of the pastors. The committee also helps prospective members recognize their gifts and facilitates their assimilation as active church members.

The Mentor Program

The Mentor Program seeks to pair a new member with an active member of the congregation. Mentors act as "sponsors" for each person/couple completing the New Member Class. Mentors assist new members as they seek to become active in the life of our church.

Worship Greeters

The Outreach committee recruits, supports, and schedules after-service greeters so that members and visitors feel welcomed into our community of faith each and every time that they visit.

Website Creation and Maintenance

The Outreach committee is responsible for creating and maintaining the church website, which is a vital tool in reaching out to the community and prospective members.
